Fannie Mae Allison died peacefully in her sleep October 10, 2009 after a brief illness. She was born August 7, 1915 in Morgan County, GA and was the daughter of the late Katie and John Pierce Simmons.
She lived most of her life in Atlanta where she was a founding member of Woods Memorial Baptist Church. There she was active in many women's groups serving as President of several groups including the Allison Faithful Few Club and the Decorator's Club. The garden at the church was named in her honor. In recent years, she made her home at the A. G. Rhodes Home on Boulevard.
Service will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2009, 11 am, Woods Memorial Baptist Church, 5665 Old National Hwy., College Park. Instate 10 am. Rev. Toney Mosley, Pastor. Entombment Lincoln Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the church at 10:30 am on the day of service.
Preceded in death by her husband, Rev. C. R. Allison. Survivors: sister, Irene Riggins; nephew, James Riggins; great nieces, Sonya Howard, Brandy Copeland and Tara Riggins; great nephew, James Riggins, Jr., dear friends, Blythe Minter, Blain Upchurch, and Gentry Hoit.
