FINAL RITES HELD FOR G. D. GERSTENBERG
Funeral services for G. D. (Dewey) Gerstenberg, 84, of Weimar and a former resident of Eagle Lake for many years, were held Tuesday, March 23, from First Methodist Church, with Rev. Lyle Pierce officiating.
Burial was in Masonic Cemetery.
Mr. Gerstenberg died March 21 at Youens Memorial Hospital a few hours after being admitted. He had been ill about two weeks.
A farmer, rancher and welder, he was a longtime resident of the Weimar area. Born Sept. 18, 1897, he was the son of Charles and Pauline (Engels) Gerstenberg. He married Cecil Buchman at Richmond on Jan . 13, 1934. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Weimar.
Mrs. Gerstenberg was employed here for many years as an operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.
He is survived by his widow; two sisters, Mrs. Arthur (Wilma) Beken and Mrs. Olga Alsup, both of Weimar, and several nieces and cousins. A sister, Mrs. Norma Chambless, preceded him in death.
Pallbearers were Bob Roark, Brad Beken, Arthur Ray Beken, Bobby Skeete, Mike Walker and Hilmer Hasse, Honorary pallbearers were W. W. Wilson, Lee Graves, Billy Allen, Howel Rowe and Arthur Beken.
