Wayne Swagerty, age 57, departed his earthly house December 4, 2002.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Walter Woods, Jr.; sister, Charlotte Nan Woods; aunts, Lucille Swagerty and Mary Woods; and uncles, William (June), Charlie, and Eugene Swagerty.

He is survived by his sons, Delano Wayne and Geno F. Swagerty; mother, Kathleen Swagerty; sister and brother-in-law, Linda K. and Willie Davidson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Keith Swagerty, Gary and Gail Woods, Leo Woods, all of Newport, Melvin and Sara Lee Woods, of Dandridge, and Ben and Sherry Carr, of Jefferson County; mother of his sons, Jo Ann Swagerty; special friends, Willa Dean Worley and Paula Collins and daughters; aunts, Sally and Carrie Swagerty and Theola Brown, of Newport, Hilda Swagerty, of Chicago, IL, and Sarah Katherine Nettles, of Detroit, MI; uncle, Fred Swagerty, of Chicago, IL; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 9, 2002, at the Manes Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Billings, Rev. Billy Davis, and Rev. Charles Owensby officiating. Interment will be in the Gum Springs Union Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m. Monday prior to the service.
