Robert N. 'Pud' Berry died October 25, 1991, born September 20, 1923 in Oklahoma City, the son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Charles N. Berry. Pud was raised in Oklahoma City, graduating from Classen. He went to Washington and Lee University before entering the Army Air Corps where he served as a Ball Turret Gunner on a B-24 in the South Pacific Theater. His plane went down in the South China Sea where he remained for 36 hours before being rescued. He returned to Oklahoma and completed his education at Oklahoma University where he earned his law degree and was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity. During his university days Pud met Becky Porter. They were married August 15, 1946 and celebrated their 45th Anniversary this year.
Pud was a member of the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club and was a past president. He was also a member of All Souls Episcopal Church where he had served on the vestry and he was councilman for the City of Nichols Hills.
Pud is preceded in death by his daughter Louise, and her husband Craig Davis, and his granddaughter Elizabeth Brett Davis and his grandson Berry Lloyd Davis. Pud is survived by his wife, Becky, of the home; his daughter Nora, Mrs. Tim Sullivant, of Phoenix, Arizona and her husband Tim; his daughter Dr. Ada Berry of Kodiac Island, Alaska; his son Robert Crittenden Berry, and his wife Christy of Dallas, Texas; his son Charles Porter Berry, and his wife Lynn of Oklahoma City; his brother Charles Nelson Berry, Jr. and his wife Louise of Oklahoma City, and his grandchildren: Raymond Craig Davis, Charles Porter Berry, Jr., Brett Louise Berry, Walker Shoemaker Berry, Cole Barton Berry, Jessica Love Berry, Charles Robert Berry, Robert Streeter Berry, Alexandra Elizabeth Berry, Crittenden Porter Berry, Kristina Love Sullivant, Sierra Louise Sullivant and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services are at 10:00 A.M. Monday, October 28, 1991 at All Souls Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Heart Memorial, Oklahoma Heart Center, Oklahoma City. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Hahn-Cook/Street and Draper Funeral Directors.
