JOHN ALTON CORNELIUS, 40, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 with his mother at his side. Visitation will be Thursday, November 5 from 10-11:55 a.m., with service to follow at 12 noon at Golden Gate Cathedral, 3240 James Road, with Bishop Edward H. Stephens, Jr. officiating. Interment in Elmwood Cemetery. John was born on August 14, 1969 in Chicago, IL. He was a devoted member of Golden Gate Cathedral and was passionate about his participation with the choir. John attended the University of Tennessee at Martin and LeMoyne Owen College. He was a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Chi Psi Chapter. His gift of performing was shared with many on stages such as the Apollo Theatre in New York City. Johnny debuted in the movie, "This Is Elvis" and was a radio personality "Jammin JC" on 91.7 WUMR. John leaves to treasure his memory, a loving mother, Leah Remel Cornelius; his father, Robert Cornelius; grandmother, Millicent Dixon Bolton; two sisters, Joy Remel Lockridge of Memphis, TN and Faith Cornelius of Chicago, IL; three brothers, Jamaal Dunbar of Freeport, IL, Robert Cornelius, Jr., and Patrick Cornelius of Chicago, IL.
