"Edgar O. Broaddus, Cairo, died at 4:20 o'clock this morning at Wabash Hospital. Mr. Broaddus, who was 71 years old, had been in failing health for about 3 years and a patient at the hospital for 7 days.

Mr. Broaddus was born and lived his entire life at Cairo. He was employed by the Wabash Railroad as a section foreman from 1901 until 6 years ago, when he retired. He was a member of the Cairo Christian Church.

Surviving are his wife and two daughters, Mrs. Etta Rinehart of Cairo and Miss Anna Broaddus of the home; one son, Sgt. John W. Broaddus who is serving in the Air Corps at Miami Beach, Florida; four grandchildren; his step-mother, Mrs. Cora Broaddus of Moberly; five brothers, Burl Broaddus of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Churchill Broaddus of Sedalia; Claude Broaddus of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; Vernon Broaddus of Bremerton, Washington; and Hurley Broaddus, who is listed as missing in the South Pacific; three sisters, Mrs. Harry Gray of Bremerton, Washington; Mrs. Frank Zahnow of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; and Mrs. Everett Neece of Fairmount, Illinois.
