Birth: Aug. 30, 1864
Richland County
Wisconsin, USA
Death: Aug. 27, 1931, USA

Obit in The Correctionville News, 1 October 1931, page 6: Death came Sunday evening to relieve the suffering of S.P. Hardy who had been ill several months. He had not been able to be around much since their house burned last spring and he never was privileged to live in their new house which is under construction at this time. Sylvester Hardy, the son of William and Rachel Wood Hardy, was born August 30, 1864, in Wisconsin. He came to Iowa in 1888 where for some time he taught school and worked as a laborer. On November 23, 1898, he married Miss Florence Libby and they moved to their farm north of Cushing 21 years ago. Two sons were born to them, and two nieces and a nephew were taken into their home after the death of their mother. Eleven years ago they moved to Missouri and Mr. Hardy had been in poor health since their return from that state the past spring. Death came Sunday evening, September 27, 1931, when he had reached the age of 67 years and 28 days. Mr. Hardy was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church at Aurelia where he was active in Sunday school work. For several years while in Missouri he was Sunday school superintendent. His sons, Morris and Roscoe, and two sisters preceded him in death. Those who survive include his wife, the nieces and nephew who lived with the Hardys, Mrs. Rose Shaw of Centerville, Missouri, Mrs. Elizabeth Peters of Anthon, and Ernest Hill of Cushing; three sisters, Mrs. Rose Burrington, Mrs. James Fasel and Mrs. Will Owens, four brothers, Thomas, Isaac, Charles and Gilbert, other nieces and nephews. Funeral services in charge of Rev. H.M. Hall were held at the Methodist Church in Cushing at 2 p.m. with burial in the Grand Meadow Cemetery.
