After graduating from high school in Winthrop, Iowa, Daniel received a B.A. Degree from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa.
Daniel Gallery served in the U.S. Navy in World War I. After the war, he received a Law Degree from the University of Iowa. He practiced law and was the City Attorney for Winterset for much of his life. Daniel was the county atorney for Madison County, IA at several different times during his life-long legal career in Winterset and was the Mayor during the Winterset Centennial in 1949. He was a devoted and loyal democrat -- he served the Democratic Party in Madison County, Iowa as its chairman for 26 years and was at least twice an Iowa delegate to the national democratic convention. - Philadelphia in 1948 and Chicago in the 1950s.,
