"The (Hickory County, Missouri) Index," 18 Jun 1914, p.1: "Obituary Rebecca Elizabeth Hale, daughter of William and Sarah Hale, was born July 9, 1848, in Indiana and, with her parents, moved to the northern part of Missouri when quite young. She was united in marriage with Jesse Charlton Nov. 1, 1866. To this union were born ten children, five sons and five daughters. Two sons passed away when small. In the spring of 1867 she, with her husband, moved to Hickory county and has made this county her home almost ever since. . . Mrs. Rebecca Elizabeth Charlton left her worldly home on Little Niangua on June 9, 1914 at 8:30 a. m. She leaves a husband, eight children and fourteen grand-children and a host of friends. The eight children who survive her are: Mrs. Alice A. Snidow, Fairburn, S. Dak.; William A. Charlton, Kenoma, Mo.; Mrs. Mary E. Mustain, Sugar Creek, Mo.; Robert M. Charlton, Almon, Mo.; Mrs. Celia J. Williams, Macks Creek, Mo.; Mrs. Ellen M. Lamar, Almon, Mo.; and Mrs. Rosa F. Hazleton, Muskogee, Okla. The husband and all of the children except two sons were at her bedside when she passed away. . ."
