Funeral services for former Seminole County resident Eugene Beaver, 68, were held today at Salt Creek United Methodist Church. Rev. Malcomb Tiger and Rev. Mike Harjo officiated at the service. Interment followed at the Harjo Family Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.
Beaver died Friday, Jan. 29, 1999 at Holdenville General Hospital.
He was born June 16, 1930 east of Wetumka, and reared in the Salt Creek Community.
Beaver attended schools at Lone Star, Friendship, Bethel and Jones Academy Euches Mission.
A veteran, he served in the US Army for two years.
Beaver worked in construction and also for Boeing Aircraft before retiring in the late 1960's.
He served as a baseball and softball coach for Holdenville area teams.
Beaver was a member of Salt Creek United Methodist Church.
He married Minnie Beaver in Ada in 1954; she preceded him in death.
Beaver was also preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jackie Lee; and one brother, John Beaver Jr.
Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Harrison, of the home; four sisters, Wanda Postoak, Tulsa, Cora Ann Beaver, Holdenville, Norean Tiger, Holdenville, and Colleen Larney, Oklahoma City; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
