Pliny cass the son of Nathan CASS a pioneer of Chautauqua Co born Massachusetts died in Corry Erie Co PA served in the War of 1812 Pliny opened a tavern at the south-west corner of Main and second St in what is now Jamestown in 1817, It became known as the "CASS TAVERN"
He married Dorothy SMITH of Busti and they had 8 children including Judd Smith Cass buried here. another son Willard Cass died in the Civil War
Emily, Sophronia, who lived with him at his death in Corry, Melissa, Elizabeth and Laura

The family intact in 1850 census spelled COSS in the index, this census taker in this town then did a really poor recording, spellings more incorrect than not
