Edgar L. Breeden Dies at 48 in Livingston

Edgar L. Breeden, former Bozeman man and outstanding athlete at Montana State College in the early 1930's, dies at his home in Livingston lat Monday evening of a heart attack. He was 48.

Breeden had been a teacher of social science at Park County High School since 1946 when he was discharged from the Army following World War II.

He was born at Oyer, Mo., on March 30, 1910, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Breeden. The family moved to Fairview in 1917 and to Bozeman in 1920.

Breeden received his education in Bozeman and graduated from Gallatin County High School. He attended Montana State College and received his degree in 1933. He accepted a teaching and coaching position at Conrad that fall. He was married to Helen (Pat) Crockett in Bozeman on Dec. 28, 1933. Mr. and Mrs. Breeden made their home in Conrad until 1943 when he entered the armed services. He was stationed at Baxter General Hospital, Spokane for the duration where he was a aster sergeant in charge of medical supplies.

Following his discharge in January, 1946, Breeden went to Livingston to teach at Park County High School.

He was a member of Livingston Lodge No. 32 Masonic Order and a member of the Montana Education Assn.

Survivors include the widow, four brothers, John (Brick) Breeden, Marion Breeden, George Breeden and Charles Breeden, all of Bozeman; two sisters, Mrs. Alfred (Pearl) Schlechten of Bozeman and Mrs. Mabel Arlint of Missoula and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Franzen Chapel, Livingston. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Cemetery, Bozeman.
