|Birth: ||Oct. 18, 1914|
|Death: ||Jan. 14, 1987|
Son of William Klomp & Jennie Elzenaar; grandson of John & Alice (Scutt) Klomp and John Henry & Hendrieka (Klingenberg) Elzenaar.
Uncle Gerald's father passed away and his mama remarried to Thomas Edward Halbert, who adopted Uncle Gerald when he was not more than five.
Married Velma Elizabeth Frutig, in Kalamazoo; they have three sons:
Garry (m Roberta)
Larry (m Jennie)
Gene (m Joyce)
He served in the United States Navy during World War II and before retirement was employed by the Upjohn Company. He had played baseball and softball in the Industrial Leagues and had been active as a bowler.
He attended the Bethany Reformed Church and was a former member of the Kalamazoo Elks Lodge 50. He was also a past Commander of the American Legion Joseph B. Westnedge Post No. 36.
Uncle Gerald & Aunt Betty were fun loving and it was a joy being around them. They loved to party and hold family get-togethers and we always had a great time.
Uncle Gerald lived only 72 years, 2 months, 27 days and it was not long enough for us!
Many thanks to Randy Emert for stone photo.
