Memorial for her brother and guardian
John Hartman Dittemore FAG 22619893

There is proof that Jacob Nehs, born 1738, had a wife named "Anna Maria" as her name accompanies the baptisms of several of their children. Her birth date in 1743 seems to mesh well. Despite the fact her maiden name is invariably given as Dittamore, and her brother was John Hartman Dittemore, who died during the Rev.War at Camp West Point, NY. I did find that the land of Hartman Dittemore shared a boundary with Jacob Nehs in Bucks Co Pa and there were other Dittemores involved in several of their Pennsylvania documents. And Catherine Dittemore, Hartman's widow, was sponsor for one of their children's births. Finally I found that
John signed the marriage bonds as her guardian. He also signed a land transfer to "Zirkle", husband of my sister Anna Margaretha". An explanation of the spelling Dittamore. John Hartman had a son, John B. who used Dittamore. His line still uses that spelling today but..it is the only line that does.

Biographical information below provided by Linda Morris who has researched both families for over 30 years and is a decendent of both the Nehs and Dittemore families. I am also from the Zirkle family mentioned here as wife of Henry Nehs.

The Hartman Dittemore mentioned above was John Hartman Dittemore, a veteran of the Rev. War and thought to be the brother of Anna Maria. They were both born in Nurnbert, today in Germany (since 1871 when Germany was established as a seperate country, combined from many Palantates which were all seperate countries.) John Hartman Dittemore is buried in West Point Military Cemetery.

For much more on the Nehs family please contact Linda Morris The families here only remained Quaker for about 2 more generations. I have the privildige to be related to both John Hartman Dittemore and Heinrick Hertzel, the father of Catherine, John Hartmans wife. I come from her brother.

Bob Rader who orginally wrote this memorial passed away in 2012. He was my online friend and as it turned out, related in someway to the same families I am from.

I come down line from John Hartman Dittemore 1735==Alan Nehs 1652==Conrad Zirkle 1603. These families eventually came together in another family too, Snapp which I am also from with Joseph Schnepp 1731.

These families I proved within that last 30 years.
