Elsie Smith, 95, of Marietta, passed away on Sunday (Oct. 25, 2009) at Marietta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Dec. 24, 1913, at Big Springs, W.Va., a daughter of the late Joseph M. and Emma Morehead Shuck. Elsie worked at the Betsey Mills Club and Wakefield and Lafayette hotels, then in private homes, retiring in 1978.
Elsie is survived by one son, Ronny (Sandra) Smith of Marietta; grandson, Mark (Tracey) Smith of Marietta; granddaughter, Peggy (Brian) Bailey of Lowell; and three great-grandchildren, Brittni Cline, and Derek and Brandyn Bailey.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father; three brothers, Earl, Alfred and Joseph; and three sisters, Estelle, Elodene and Inez.
Elsie spent her final days under the loving care of Hospice and the caring employees of Marietta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Private graveside services will be held according to Elsie's wishes, with burial in East Lawn Memorial Park. McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
