NORTH GREENBUSH -- Anthony "Tony" L. Celeste, a resident of North Greenbush for many years and loving husband of Frances Sepe Celeste, passed away at home on Friday, June 1, 2001.
Anthony was a native of Glens Falls, and was the son of the late Louis and Adeline Celeste.
Tony graduated from St. Mary' s Academy in Glens Falls, Archmere Academy in Claymont, Del., Mr. St. Mary' s College in Emmitsburg, Md., and Siena College in Loudonville, N.Y., where he earned his MBA. While attending Mr. St. Mary' s College, Tony was a four-sport letterman, earning All-American Honorable Mention in 1940 as the captain of the football team.
Tony served his country as a master sergeant in the 5th Armored Division from 1940 to 1945. From 1947 to 1990, Anthony served in many capacities at Tougher Industries including Secretary/Treasurer and Comptroller. Tony' s professional memberships included a lifelong member of Northeast Subcontractors Association (NESCA), National Association of Purchasing Management (NAPM), St. Michael' s Men' s Club and the Italian Community Center. Tony was an avid golfer and friend to all.
In addition to his beloved wife, Frances, Tony is survived by his loving sister-in-law, Mary Sepe Valente; his sons and best friends, Richard and Joseph, proud father-in-law of Kimberly and Delores respectively. A loving grandfather to Anthony and Nicole of California, Brittany of East Greenbush, Olivia of Chardon, Ohio, and Joseph of North Greenbush; brothers, John and Panfilo of Glens Falls, Guy of Sun Valley, Nev., and his sister, Mary Culler of High Point, North Carolina. Survivors also include many nieces and nephews. Brothers who predeceased Tony were Phillip, James, Alfred and Frank and sisters, Philomena, Regina and Eva.
His funeral will be Tuesday morning at 9:45 a.m. from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet, and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Church, North Greenbush, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
Interment will follow in St. Patrick' s Cemetery, Watervliet.
Family and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Monday, June 4, from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m.
