Malford Clemens Ackermann, age 81, went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 26, 2009. He was born, March 1, 1928, in Bexar County, Texas, to Milton O. & Emilie M. Koehler Ackermann. When he was only 28 days old his parents moved to the family homestead in Schertz where he lived his entire life. First and foremost Malford was a husband to his wife, Rosemarie, for almost 60 years and father of five children. He farmed and ranched his entire life. Malford was a active member of Beitel Memorial Lutheran Church in San Antonio. He served as a director of the Schertz Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years and also served in the capacity of Assistant Fire Cheif and President. He was elected to the position of Guadalupe County Commissioner, Precinct 3 for 2 terms, starting in 1977 to 1984. Currently he served as a director of the Producers Co-op, member of the Schertz Historical Commission, Guadalupe County Farm Bureau, Guada-Coma Independent Cattlemen's Association, and Guadalupe County Wildlife Management Association. He is survived by his wife Rosemarie Orth Ackermann, children: Beverly and Charles Jobe, J. Albert Ackermann, Hazel and Mitch Tucker, Lorraine and Tim Swinney, and Janice Ackermann, grandchildren: Adrienne & Mike Quire, Ryan Bentley, Kyle Swinney, Steffanie Wohl, Charles Jobe, Jr., Lauren Swinney, Michael Ackermann, Michelle Tucker and step- grandson Chad Tucker along with 2 great-grandchildren: Jesse Wohl and Andrew Quire.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Hugo and Milton Jr., and grandson, Robert Swinney. Visitation will be at the Schertz Funeral Home on Wed., October 28, from 5-9 P.M. Services will be held at Beitel Memorial Lutheran Church on Thur. October 29, at 10:00 A.M. with interment at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, San Antonio, TX.
