Both families moved to Tarrant county, Texas for a few year before going to Young county where they lived the rest of the lives.

Obit from the Graham Leader December 18, 1903:
"Mr. W. W. Mayes died last Saturday from the effects of injuries received on the Dobbs hill, as stated in these columns last week. His remain were taken to Fish Creek Sunday for interment. In the death of Mr. Mayes, Young county has lost a kind and good neighbor. He was a quite law-abiding citizen and an upright gentleman. The Leader deeply sympathizes with the bereaved family."
