Vera Clouzot
Birth: Dec. 30, 1913
Death: Dec. 15, 1960

Actress. The wife of French director Henri-Georges Clouzot, she appeared in three of his films, memorably as the would-be murderess with a heart condition in "Les Diaboliques" (1955). Her other acting credits are "The Wages of Fear" (1953) and "The Spies" (1957), and she cowrote the screenplay for Clouzot's "The Truth" (1960). Vera Gibson-Amado was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She settled in France after World War II and married Clouzot in 1950. During her brief film career she worked with no one but her husband. Clouzot's death from an apparent heart attack was made much of in the French press, because it eerily resembled her character's demise in "Les Diaboliques." (bio by: Bobb Edwards)
