Services for James Vanden Oever, 78, will be Tuesday, October 13, at 11 a.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Interment in the Gosport Cemetery.

Jim was born in Oskaloosa to William and Alice Vanden Oever. He attended country schools in the Oskaloosa and Pella area. He was married to Evelyn Van Hal in 1951. He was a farmer, bus driver for the Chariton School District for 30 plus years, and also worked for the Lucas County ASCS office.
Jim passed away October 17, 2009 at the Lucas County Health Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter Julie Moody. He is survived by his wife Evelyn; children: Leland and wife Terry Vanden Oever of Post Falls, Idaho, and Jacqueline and husband Chad Ray of Pella; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother Loran (Naomi Ruth) Vanden Oever of Nashville; many brothers and sisters in law, relatives, and friends.
