Christened February 8, 1634, at Saint Michael, Stamford, Lincoln, England, Sara was the daughter of Robert and Mary Royce (also spelled Royse); wife of John Calkins.

Children included (births recorded at Norwich, Connecticut):

~ Hue (Hugh), born June 1659
~ John, born July 1661
~ Samuell (Samuel), born October 1663
~ Sarah, born June 1666
~ David, born and died March 1667
~ Mary, born May 1669
~ Elisabeth, born April 1673
~ Ann, born August 1678

Another and much older stone was transcribed sometime around 1933, a portion unreadable:

"HERE LIES
THE BODY OF
SARY CALKINS
WHO DIED (-blank-)
(-blank-) AGED 77 YEARS"

**Although it has been speculated where her parents have been buried there are no gravestones, nor any transcriptions that provide their burial locations. Their burials remain unknown.
