Mrs. Grace Kerr Rutledge, wife of Capt. Rutledge, died Friday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. G. N. Wickwire. The funeral was Monday morning from the house, conducted by Rev. F. H. Collier, with interment at Crown Hill, Indianapolis. Mrs. Rutledge had not lived in Danville many months but those who were priviledged to know her had become deeply attached to her, a gentle, charming woman. She was born in Nashville, Tenn., Feb. 5, 1846 and when quite young was married to Leonard E. Byers. To them six children were born, Her second marriage was to Capt. Rutledge and to this union one child was given. Four children survive--Samuel A. Byers, Jeannette Wickwire, Leonard E. Byers and E. M. Rutledge. In her girlhood, she united with the West End Methodist church of Nashville and when the family came North, she placed her letter in the Edwin Ray Methodist church, of Indianapolis. Owing to bodily afflictions, for many years she could not attend services regularly. During all of her sickness she bore her sufferings sweetly and without complaining, always hopeful for the return of health.
