DAVID JOHNSTON RETIRED MINER, IS DEAD AT 80
David D. Johnston , 80, of 54 E. Granite died in a local hospital Friday.

He was born in Bottomley, North Dakota, Nov. 26, 1886. He received his education in Bottomley and worked on a railroad there. In 1915 he went to Canada and joined the Canadian Army, serving in France and Belgium. He was discharged in 1919 and returned to Canada.

Mr. Johnston was employed by the Canadian Pacific Railroad for a short time and later moved to Minnesota. He came to Butte in 1921 where he was employed as a miner by the Anaconda Co. He retired as a pump man in 1956.

He was a member of Silver Bow Post 1 of the American Legion, 40&8, Eagles Lodge No. 11, Mount Moriah Lodge 24, AF & AM.

Surviving are his widow Beatrice, Butte; son-in-law and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Lew Posser, California; Frida Trethewey, Butte; granddaughter, Mrs. Richard Downey, San Diego; brother, Arthur, Vancouver, B.C.; sisters, Mrs. Marle O'Connor, Ontario, Canada, and Mrs. Mable Haight, Richmond, Calif., nieces, nephews and cousins.

The body is in Sayatovic- White's Funeral Home where services will be held Monday at 11. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
