William traveled extensively, spending his time teaching and painting and exhibits his work in Chicago, Buffalo and St. Louis. In 1906 William moves to California and helps found the California Art Club.
Among his works are "The Mantle of Spring", "Where Nature's God Hath Wrought"at the Los Angeles County Museum and "Days of Sunshine" at the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
