John Wilkins Askins, the youngest son of John Wilkins and Emmaline E. Reed Askins, married Bertha Bynum, the daughter of Isaac and Anna Ray Bynum. The Askins' were the proud parents of one son.
John and Bertha owned a farm in the Stillwell Community of Johnson County, Arkansas. In addition to the farm, they maintained and kept a peach orchard for many years and he hauled props for the coal mines during the off seasons. During the lean years, he and his wife went to California to work for a canning company, returning to Arkansas when canning season was over.
John and Bertha were active members of the Stillwell Bible Baptist Church near their home.
