Elizardo, a lifelong resident of Truchas, was predeceased by his parents: Esquipula Montoya and Dionicia Pacheco; brothers: Rosendo, Pablin and Atanacio; sisters: Constancia, Maria Cleotilde and Florinda.
Elizardo was survived by his wife of 48 years, Hevila; his sons: Ray and wife Nila, Mike and wife Darlene and Benjamin and wife Angela; and daughter, Dionicia and husband Michael Ortega of Albuquerque; 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; 2 brothers: Elefio and Evaristo Montoya; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Elizardo served in the Army during WWII for 4 years and 9 months in the European Theater. He worked at the Capitol for several years, then in Los Alamos for 26 years where he retired in 1987. His hobbies were reading his bible and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchild who he loved dearly. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Public visitation and a devotional service were on August 28, 2005 in the Chapel of Block-Salazar Mortuary. Funeral service was on August 29, 2005 at the Smith Memorial Presbyterian Church in Truchas. Burial followed in the San Miguel Cemetery in Truchas. Pallbearers: Andrew Montoya, Robert Montoya, Matthew Montoya, Isaac Montoya, Adam Montoya and Miguel Ortega. Honorary pallbearers: Jenelle Montoya, Robin Montoya, Aaron Montoya, Sean Montoya, Franchesca Ortega, and Elizardo Ortega.
