Carthage Press Obituary August 25, 1972: "Robert C. Wright, 86, well-known Carthage resident, was pronounced dead on arrival at 3:50 pm Thursday at Trinity Hospital, Dodge City, Kan. He had been making his home in Dodge City for the last two years with a daughter Mrs. Rex C. McGugin, moving there from Carthage.
Mrs. Wright was born Augu. 17, 1886, at Connersville, Ind., and came to Carthage with his parents the late Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Wright as a small boy. He was the youngest of eight children, all of whom preceded him in death. He was married to Miss Emma Whitefield [Whitfield] June 30, 1915, at the home of her parents near Oronogo. Mrs. Wright died Sept. 9, 1960. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Mr. Wright was employed as an accountant and assistant manager of the former Carthage Stone Co. here which was founded by his father and the late W. R. Logan. When Carthage Stone merged to form Carthage Marble Corp., he continued to work there as an accountant, retiring about 30 years ago. He also farmed and had an orchard northwest of Carthage.
Surviving, in addition to his daughter, are two sons Robert Wright, Kendall Park, N.J., and George Wright, Caruthersville, Mo.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Marrion [Marian] Powers Winchester, 314 Euclid Blvd., and Miss Elizabeth Wright, 1015 S. Garrison Ave., are nieces.
The body is being returned to Carthage by Carthage Airways and services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Knell Mortuary with the Rev. H. L. Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Park Cemetery. The family will be at the home of Mrs. W. L. Winchester, 314 Euclid Blvd."
