Charles (went by Carl) William Rominger was the third of ten known children of Michael Rominger (1780 - 1824) and Christina Ebert Rominger (1782 - 1844), who married 23 Oct 1804 at Stokes (now Forsyth) County, North Carolian. Michael and Christina spent their lives in Surry (became Stokes and then Forsyth) County, North Carolina; living in the vicinity of Friedberg, a Moravian community on the border of Stokes and Rowan (now Forsyth and Davidson) Counties, North Carolina.
Carl was one of the earliest members of the Moravian Community in North Carolina to migrate to Bartholomew County, North Carolina, leaving North Carolina in July, 1829 (some records show 1831). Carl married first to Fannie Holston (1811-1837) on 08 Feb 1833 at Bartholomew County, Indiana. Carl and Fannie had two children, namely:
1. Maria J. Rominger (1835-young) 2. William O. Rominger (???-young)
After Fannie died, Carl remarried to the widow Mary Ann Walter Miksch (1812-1894) on 29 Jan 1838 at Hope, Bartholomew County, Indiana. Mary and Carl were the parents of eight known children, namely:
3. Emeline E. Rominger Dodd (1839-1923) 4. Amanda H. Rominger Parks (1841-1919) 5. Thomas W. Rominger (1843-1918) 6. Minerva (Nerva) Louise Rominger Collins (1844-1916) 7. Mary Ella Rominger Hornaday Kelley (1847-1937) 8. Lewis (Lute) Taylor Rominger (1849-1936) 9. Martha (Mattie) A. Evangeline Rominger Essex (1853-1946) 10. Charles A. Rominger (1856-1932)
Why is the date 1902 at the bottom of the Rominger tombstone? Is the death date for Carl or Mary incorrect?
