Lewis Andrew Trujillo, 68, of Poudre Canyon, died Saturday, June 6, 1998 at Poudre Valley Hospital.
A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at 4501 N. County Road 9. The Rev. John Wilson will officiate. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Allnutt Funeral Service/Drake Road Chapel.
Mr. Trujillo was born March 11, 1930, in La Garita to Andrew Trujillo and Josephine Curby Trujillo. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a U.S. marine Corps veteran of the Korean War.
He married Debra Stout on Dec. 31, 1977, in Fort Collins.
He was founder and executive director of Night Walker Enterprises.
He was past president of the Colorado Rural Legal Service Client Council, State Board for Colorado Rural Legal Service, Consumer Council Utilities Advisory Board and the Colorado Senior Lobby, He earned the Martin Luther King Award, the Prospector Award through Nine Who Care and the America's Award for Humanitarianism. He was also honored by Major Ann Azari who proclaimed Dec 6, as Lewis Trujillo Day.
He enjoyed elk and deer hunting, fishing and trapping. He also enjoyed traveling and reading. He was known as a great humorist and as a man of wisdom.
He was a lifetime resident of Colorado.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Trujillo of Poudre Canyon; four sons, Kirt Trujillo of Loveland, Mark Trujillo and Matthew Trujillo, both of Stockton, Calif., and Lewis A. Trujillo Jr., of Chicago; two daughters, Diane Leavitt of Redmond, Wash., and Debra E. Trujillo of Poudre Canyon; his mother, Josephine Trujillo of Fort Collins; two brothers, Vernon Nightwalker of Fort Collins and Robert Trujillo of Longmont; four sisters, Alice McCoy, Virginia Whitney and Berdie Wilson, all of Fort Collins, and Susan London of Donoco; 10 grandchidren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lewis A. Trujillo Memorial Fund in care of Allnutt Funeral Service/Drake Road Chapel.
