Wesley W. “Wes” Barnes, Jr., 90, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Sweetwater Healthcare Center.

Services will be 2 P.M. Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Rev. Richard Acuna officiating. A family visitation will be Tuesday, prior to the service starting at 1 P.M. until 2 P.M.

Wes was born September 9, 1928 in Ada Oklahoma to Wesley W. Sr. and Iva Nora (Goforth) Barnes. He graduated at Andrews High School in 1947.

He married Ina Ruth Clement August 14, 1948 in Odessa, TX. She preceded him death February 10, 1998. He married Twila Hunter February 21, 2006 in Sweetwater, TX. She preceded him in death August 1, 2006. On April 24, 2007, Wes married Evelyn (Street) Dawson in Sweetwater, TX.

Wes co-owned and operated Barnes & Hitch Construction Company in Seminole, Texas (1957-1980) for 38 years where he also served on the city council 17 years. He also served as mayor pro-tem. He was a charter member of Seminole Evening Lions Club and served as a board member and president and was a volunteer on the fire department for 27 years.

Wes also lived in Monahans, TX, where he was recognized for 10 years of dedicated service to the city. He also lived in Andrews, Stamford, and Sweetwater. He was a member of the Avondale Baptist Church in Sweetwater.

He is survived by his wife Evelyn of Sweetwater, TX; four sons, Charles Randall Barnes & wife Carrol of Granbury, TX, Roger “Rocky” Barnes & wife Lori of Seminole, TX, Dale Jackson & wife Adrian of Oklahoma City, OK, and Jayme Jackson & wife Rachel of Bethesda, MD; two daughters; Rhonda Page Mills of Big Spring, TX, and Shannon Day & husband Mark of Swansea, IL; a brother, Bob Barnes of Andrews, TX; a sister, Betty Schrank & husband Ollie of New Braunfels, TX; three step-daughters; Rita Harris of Lubbock, TX, Elaine Ryden of Sweetwater, TX, and Lora Brock & husband James of Lubbock, TX; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers (one an Infant) Eugene Barnes and Bill Barnes; and two wives.

Pallbearers will be Aubrey Crowley, Martin McDonell, Tim Kerby, Leroy Hinshew, Russell Moore, Gary Ruffin.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dwyght Gunn and Glen Wilson.
