Husband of Lucinda Penn Staples.
Wilmer, Texas, Sept. 11 - The reaper death has again visited this community and removed to his eternal rest one of our most highly respected citizens, Wesley Mitchell, who died Saturday morning at 7:30 of congestion. His remains were interred at Trinity Cemetery Sunday morning with Masonic honors. Rev. S.B. Campbell, of Lancaster, preached the funeral. Mr. Mitchell was born Sept. 2nd, 1846, near Richmond, Va., and was raised on a farm. In 1871, he moved to Sunbright, Tenn. where he was married to Miss Lucinda Staples the 20th of January, 1876. In 1890, he joined the Methodist church and remained ever thereafter a consistant member of that church. He came to Texas in 1892 and settled near Wilmer, where he lived until his death. Besides a wife and nine children he leaves two brothers and three sisters to mourn his death. One brother and two sisters live in Virginia, one sister in California and one brother, Thos. Mitchell, near Lancaster. Mr. Mitchell was a good man and an honorable citizen and enjoyed the confidence of all who knew him. To the bereaved wife, children and other relatives we join our entire community in extending sympathy.
