Bessie E." Betty" Bernheisel, 85, of Athens passed away Sunday October 4, 2009 at the home of her granddaughter, Shantel Green in Tekonsha.
Bessie was preceded in death by her first husband William Middaugh on December 19, 1976 and her second husband Delbert Bernheisel on November 8, 2004.
She is survived by her 3 children, Rebecca (Richard) Moore of Haleyville, Alabama, David Middaugh of Burlington and Mike Middaugh of Athens, 5 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Bessie enjoyed quilting, arts and crafts and also loved writing poetry of which one of her poems was published.
Friends may call at the Spencer Family Funeral Home in Athens on Wednesday October 7, 2009 where the family will be present from 12:30 – 2:30 p.m. with funeral services to follow at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Marty Burdick officiating.
