ARLINGTON - Etta Mae Graff Tyson, 85, a longtime Fort Worth resident and wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2001, at her daughter's home in Arlington after a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday in Greenwood Chapel. Burial: Greenwood Memorial Park.
Etta Tyson was born May 12, 1915, in Atlanta, La., the second of six children. In 1939 she married Samuel Edwin Tyson. An ardent TCU supporter, generations of students, faculty and staff have been welcome visitors and lifelong friends. In her later years she was a patron of the music department.
A member of University Christian Church for over 50 years, she cherished the friendships developed there.
She loved fishing, gardening and, most of all, her family. She will be remembered for her warm hospitality, wisdom, strength and devoted kindness. She is sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1980 and her brother, Everett Graff in 1991.
Her family would like to thank all those who, not only through their generous giving, kept Etta in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Survivors: Daughter, Karen Tyson Hale; son-in-law she loved as her own, Darwin Hale, M.D.; grandchildren, Kellie Hale and Tyson Hale, M.D. and wife, Traci; sisters, Effie Dunn, Mary Brookshier and Marlene [sic Marlyne] Parnell; brother, Robert Graff; and numerous nieces and nephews.
