Governor's Brother Dies Here Monday

Robert L. Hardman, 67, brother of Governor L G Hardman and for more than 25 years one of the most prominent men in the Atlanta business, died early Monday at a local hospital after about two weeks' illness from heart trouble.
Mr. Hardman was born in Commerce, Ga., and came to Atlanta more than 30 years ago. He became connected with the Hightower-Kirkpatrick Hardware company, and when that concern merged with the Beck & Gregg Hardware company Mr. Hardman took over the carriage hardware department and managed that part of the latter company's operations until his final illness.
Mr. Hardman, on the advent of the automobile, added automobile accessories to his department and rapidly built up large distribution of these products. In addition to managing this department, Mr. Hardman was also a stockholder in the company.
He leaves his widow, three daughters, Miss Erle Hardman, of Atlanta; Mrs. A W Braselton, of Atlanta, and Mrs. R F Brown, of Jefferson, Ga.; a son Robert L. Hardman, Jr. of Anniston, Ala., two sisters, Mrs. Gordon T. Jones, of Atlanta, and Mrs. W L Williams of Commerce; also three brothers, Governor Hardman, T C Hardman and J B Hardman, all of Commerce.
A prayer service will be conducted Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock in the chapel of Awtry & Lowndes, after which the body will be taken to Commerce where services will be conducted at the home of his brother, T C Hardman, with burial in the Commerce cemetery.
Pallbearers have been chosen from among the officers and employees of the Beck & Gregg Hardware company. They are W A Parker, W C Holleyman, Palmer J Smith, J R Almand, G C Bradshaw and B W Brannon.

Governor and Mrs. L G Hardman, Atlanta: Mr. and Mrs. T C Hardman, Mr. and Mrs. J B Hardman, of Commerce, Ga., Mr. Tom Sands, Jr. and Miss Frances Braselton, Atlanta, are invited to attend the prayer service for Mr. Robert L. Hardman this (Tuesday) morning, 9 o'clock, at the chapel of Awtry & Lowndes Co. Dr. L R Chrisie will officiate. The following gentlemen are requested to serve as pallbearers and will assemble at the chapel: Messrs. W A Parker, W C Holleyman, Palmer J Smith, J R Almand, G C Bradshaw, and B W Brannon. Funeral cortege will proceed immediately after the prayer service to Commerce, Ga., where regular funeral will take place at the residence of Mr. T C Hardman. Interment Commerce, Ga.
