WINONA, Minn., Aug. 4, 2003 -- A Winona State University junior studying chemistry, Josef Donald Cox, 21, died in Winona on Monday. Services were scheduled for Friday in his hometown, Wabasha, Minn. He was the son of Doreen and Mark Cox of Wabasha.
Cox's landlord found him dead on Aug. 4, 2003. Apparently he had died a week or so earlier. Joe, as his friends knew him, worked full time at Pizza Hut on Huff Street. He had been promoted to manager two months earlier. He worked hard and waited a long time for the promotion, according to coworker Jason Squires. "He had ambition," Squires said. When not at Pizza Hut, he spent his time hanging out with friends, skateboarding and working on his car, friends said. The death shocked chemistry prof Bob Kopitzke. At work, Squire said that that "He was always joking around with people."
