Birth: Aug. 9, 1829

Death: Apr. 5, 1915

Parents: Sanford Dibble: 1804-10 Aug 1882 & Phebe (Denton) Dibble: Mar 1806-10 Feb 1881
Spouse: Emeline Langstaff: 8 Aug 1839-28 Jun 1870

Ebenezer Dibble was born about 9 Aug 1829 near Pawling, NY. Beyond his father Sanford, his ancestors were: Ebenezer, Joel, and David of Pawling; Ebenezer of Greenwich, CT; Zachariah and Zachariah of Stamford, CT; John of Springfield, MA; and Robert who came to Dorchester, Massachusetts Bay Colony, from the west of England in 1634.

Ebenezer and his brother Joel, migrated from the Pawling, NY area to Bradford Co., PA in the early 1840s. They were not alone. Representatives of numerous Pawling area families came at, or near, the same time. Gage, Reynolds, Denton, Mead, Wright, Bennett, Baker, and Worden are some of the family names involved in the move. Several members of these families are buried in Stevens Cemetery. Ebenezer's mother, Phebe (Denton) Dibble, separated from his father, came with him and shares his grave. Joel Dibble settled in the Mountain Lake area of Burlington Twp. He had many descendants, several of whom lived in New Albany and Wyalusing Townships. The Dibbles of Smithfield Twp., descendants of Selah and Selena (Holcomb) Dibble, are often confused with Joel's descendants, but, were a different clan altogether being originally from the Granby, CT area.
