There was a Frederick Stump, s/o Christopher Stump, who was the founder of Stumpstown/Fredericksburg in Lebanon County, PA. But according to some online books it wasn't this Frederick Stump.
Our Frederick Stump was of German descent & killed around 10 Indians or so in Carlisle Pennsylvania. He was arrested but friends broke him out of jail & he fled the state. He ended up in Georgia for a while. He was in the Revolutionary War & when he killed some British soldiers he was arrested again & sent to St. Augustine Florida. He managed to bribe his jailer into releasing him & upon returning to Georgia realized the British had burnt down his mills, confiscated his property & had a reward posted for him wanted dead or alive. So even though he was 55 he moved off again, this time to White's Creek in Davidson County, TN, where he had a tavern.
He first married Anne Snavely & when he was about 93 he married Catherine Gingery who was only about 25.
