| Birth: | Aug. 20, 1938 | | Death: | Feb. 9, 1972 |  Lt. Robert Lutz of 1123 Crestview Drive, Troy, was killed in the Republic of Vietnam, on February 9, 1972. Lt. Lutz, pilot of an OV-10A, crashed at sea while spotting on a naval gunfire support mission. He was a 16 year veteran of the navy, serving his third combat tour in Vietnam.He was assigned to Light Attack Squadron Four, last arriving in Vietnam on November 15, 1971. He was born August 20, 1938 in Troy and spent his childhood years here, graduating from Boys Town in 1955 and enlisting in the Navy that year. He graduated from Auburn University in 1964, after being commissioned an ensign, received flight training at Penscola, Florida and Corpus Christi, Texas. He made two combat cruises on board the U.S.S. Enterprise with Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron One One Two from 1966-1968 completing more than 150 missions. After a flying assignment at the Norfolk, Virginia Naval Air Station, he was graduated in 1971 from the Naval Postgraduate School at Monterey, California with a masters degree in computer science. He is survived by his wife Ann and three children, Robert III, John and Maryann of Troy; his mother Mrs. Robert E. Lutz of Troy; brothers Lawrence, John, Thomas and Edward of Troy,Paul of Dayton and Frederic serving with the army at Fort Dix, N.J.; sisters Mary Kay Skidmore. Linda and Teresa all of Troy, Rosemary Davis and Lou Anne Burke of Dayton and Mrs. Rita Knowles of Teachey, N.C. Services were held as St. Patrick Catholic Church, Troy.
