Margaret Lenore "Lee" Williams Harrison

Birth: Dec. 9, 1917
Death: Sep. 20, 2004

My half-great-great-aunt. The following bio is from "George Williams: A Pocatello Pioneer," by Emmons N. Williams, originally written while Lee was still alive. Tense has been changed from present to past to reflect her death.

Lee attended school in Pocatello & graduated from Pocatello High School. She also graduated from the University of Idaho at Moscow with a Bachelor of Science degree in business education & English. After graduation she taught at Rexburg (ID) High School. Lee then moved back to Pocatello to be a director at the Air Force Base.

In 1944 Lee married Parry W. Harrison. Parry was in the Army at that time & served with the Office of Strategic Service in China. After their daughter Kathy was born in 1945, they lived in Chicago while Parry earned his doctorate in optometry. They then returned to their hometown of Pocatello where they resided until Lee's death.

As of 1982, Kathy lived in Boise, ID, with her husband, Gary Mahn, & their children, Elizabeth & Richard. Kathy & Gary both graduated from U of ID. Kathy taught art in public schools while they lived in Virginia & Pennsylvania. Gary was in the Navy & then was certified to teach in elementary classrooms through studies at Boise State University. As of 1982, Kathy was employed as the Director of Christian Education for St. Michael's Episcopal Cathedral. Gary, meanwhile, was a CPA & a partner in a business that designed accounting software for computerized systems.

Lee's sisters, brothers, nieces & nephews appreciated her loving talent as an efficient & generous hostess. Family members were always welcomed with good food & comfortable beds. Thanksgiving dinners were very special in her home.

Lee was an avid & thoughtful letter writer. She was especially considerate in remembering birthdays & anniversaries. If one wrote a letter to Lee, it would always be answered.

After Parry was semi-retired from optometry, he & Lee were able to travel more. He was very active in the Western Seniors' Golf Association, & Lee was always with him on the golf trips, but she preferred to visit with old friends & family rather than see new sights. Her home & family remained her first priority.

Lee died on September 20, 2004, Parry followed on April 25th, 2010.
