Mrs. Chester C. Marshall died at the family home in Fremont last Sunday evening. She suffered a paralytic stroke about a year ago and some three months ago another one left her in a critical condition from which she slowly lost strength until the end came. She was 69 years of age.

She was married to Chester C. Marshall in 1886 in Findlay, Ohio, and came with him as a bride to Arlington, where Mr. Marshall helped found the Arlington Nurseries, now known as the Marshall Nurseries. They lived in Arlington for many years, moving to Fremont but about a year ago.

She is survived by her husband, who at one time represented this county in the state legislature, and three daughters, Mrs. Hobson Ludwig of Chicago; Mrs. Gail John of Arlington; and Miss Leta Marshall who lived at home.

Mrs. Chester C. Marshall died Sunday evening at the family home in Fremont after a long illness. A year ago last Thanksgiving Mrs. Marshall suffered a stroke and had since been an invalid. Three months ago she suffered a second attack and had been in critical condition for some time.

Katherine Fellers was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Fellers and was born at Findlay, Ohio, March 31, 1859. She attended the public schools at that place and later taught school for seven years until her marriage with Chester Marshall in 1896. She was brought as a bride to Arlington, where her husband was establishing what proved to be as successful business known as the Marshall Bros. nursery.
Mrs. Marshall was a prominent member of the Arlington Congregational church and of the W.C.T.U. and confined her activities to those organizations and in her home. She was a great home lover and her family was always her first consideration. Up to the time of her illness she had been very active in her church and after the family removed to Fremont about a year ago, she became affiliated with the Fremont Community Church Congregational by letter.

She is survived by her husband and three daughters; Mrs. Gail John and Miss Leta Marshall and Mrs. Hobson Ludwig of Chicago, and four grandchildren, a brother and sister, H.F. Fellers and Mrs. Wm. F.Ranger of Fremont.

Funeral services for Mrs. C.C. Marshall, of Fremont, who passed away at her home May 6th, were held Wednesday afternoon at the Congregational church here, at 2:30 o'clock. The services were in charge of Rev. J.E. Aeschbacher and Rev. E.L. Baker, of Fremont.

A quartette which included F.H. Brokaw, Lucy Lawson, Mrs. Alvin Anderson and Vernon Marshall sang "Beautiful Garden of Prayer," "Crossing the Bar," and "Sweet Peace, the Gift of God's Love."

The W.C.T.U. of which Mrs. Marshall was a loyal member, attended the service in a body and gave the beautiful ceremony of placing the bows of white ribbon, the emblem of the Union, upon the breast of their departed sister.

The pallbearers were R.A.Davies, Don C.Weber, J.D.Newcom, P.L.Cady, H.W.Schoettger and G.I.Pfeiffer.

The wealth of beautiful flowers testified to the love and esteem given this lovely Christian woman who lived for so many years in Arlington. She was laid to rest in our beautiful little cemetery by the side of her children who had gone on before her.

The immediate family left to mourn her are the husband, C.C.Marshall; Mrs. Gail John, who lives at home and teaches in the Fremont schools; Leta and Mrs. Hobson Ludwig, whose homes are in Chicago. There are three granddaughters and one grandson; one sister, Mrs. Rangeler of Fremont; and one brother who lives in California.

Mrs. Marshall came to Arlington as a bride and has always taken an active part in everything that was for the good of her church and community.
