Walter Glenn Carney
Walter Glenn Carney, 80, of Armagh died Thursday, July 17, 2003, at his home.
He was born Oct. 17, 1922, in New Florence, son of Samuel Walter and Osceola Coy Carney.
Mr. Carney was a member of Armagh-Seward United Presbyterian Church, F&AM Acacia Lodge 355 in Blairsville, the Mulligan Hill R/C Flying Club, East Wheatfield Township Sportsman's Club and a former member of United School Board.
He was a charter member and past president of United Area Lions Club, and a life member of the Armagh-East Wheatfield Volunteer Fire Co.
He served many years as an assistant Cubmaster and Webelos den leader. He was a life insurance agent for 17 years, having last worked for Met Life.
He is survived by a daughter, Pamela Clark and her husband, George, of Armagh; two grandsons: T/Sgt. Gregory Clark and his wife, Cindy, of Great Falls, Mont., and T/Sgt. Timothy Clark and his wife, Mia, of Hampton, Va.;
Also surviving are great-grandchildren: Steven, Tabitha, Kenneth, Alyssa and Jeremy Clark; sisters Louise Bloom and husband Dale, Seward, Beulah Roberts, Spring Hill, Fla., and Jeannie Hazard and husband, Jim, Alexandria, Va.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Myrtle E. Trindle Carney; five brothers: Ralph, Carl, Floyd, Harry and Leland Carney; and a sister, Mildred Switzer.
Funeral services were held Monday at Stuart Funeral Home, Armagh with Pastor Greg Quintrell officiating.
Interment was in Armagh Cemetery.
