James O. Hall was an author and historian on the Lincoln Assassination and retired director at the US Dept. of Labor.
He graduated with a degree in economics from Northeastern
State College in Tahlequah, OK. He began working as a teacher until he joined the US Labor Dept. in 1941. In 1942 he joined the Army and was stationed in Europe as a detective in the Military Police. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He resumed his work at the Labor Dept. and moved to Virginia in the 60's. After he retired in 1972 he dedicated his life to research and writing.
Since then he became a recognized authority on the Lincoln
and Civil War period. He co-authored the book "Come
Retribution" with William A. Tidwell and David W. Gaddy, as
well as countless articles and papers. He appeared on
Unsolved Mysteries and History Channel pertaining to the
Lincoln Assassination..
In 1997 he was honored with an honorary degree from Lincoln College In 2003, the Surratt House Museum,
dedicated the James O. Hall Research Center in his honor and houses all of his research files and books...

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years
