Parents were Thomas Swan (b. 1815-1817 in Londonberry, Ireland - d. 1880 in Pennsylvania) and Matilda Marshall (b. Oct. 21, 1823 in Lononberry, Ireland - d. 1887 in Crested Butte, Colorado). Burials unk.

Mrs. Goodenough was the wife of passenger engineer on the third division of the Rio Grande system. She was widely known in this section of the state and had a host of friends. Mrs. Goodenough was born at Kittanning, Penn., July 12, 1864. She removed to Colorado in the spring of 1883 with her mother. She was married to Mr. Goodenough at Crested Butte on Thanksgiving day, Nov. 25, 1886. The following year her mother died. Mr. and Mrs. Goodenough removed to Salida in 1906. Two children were born to this union. The daughter, Mrs. Laura Biddles, died in California three years ago. Her husband and son, Orrin Goodenough, survive her. She is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. W. M. Milligan of Penn., Mrs. M. P. England of La Grande, Ore., Mrs. F. E. Songar of Crested Butte, and two brothers, T. T. Swan of Denver and R. M. Swan of La Grande.
