Wife of William Richard Hughes. She was the daughter of James Dugan Murray and Mary Reece Murray both buried in Freedom Cemetery near Glensted.
Margaret Ann Murray was born in South Carolina and according to her Death certificate(#1295)it was April 17, 1834 corrected from June 17, 1834 but stone looks like 1833. She was 76 years 7 mo and 12 days. She was buried Jan. 31, 1911. The informant was her son John Hughes. She died in Henry County Bear Creek so she must have been living with her son John. Margaret and Richard were the parents of 9 children; Thomas Benton,William Dudley, Margaret Elizabeth, Lillie Hiram, John Harvey, James Archer, Susan Matilda, Margaret Ann, and Robert Lee Hughes.

Richard William Hughes died young and her father James D. Murray and mother Mary Reece helped her raise the children.
On her 73rd Birthday there was a large celebration in honor of her birthday. One hundred or more relatives attended.She had 3 brothers who survived her Thomas Benton Murray, Dock Murray and Dr. Leander Frances Murray with other brothers preceding her in death.
