Mrs. Mary Jane Garlock, a real daughter of the War of 1812, died Thursday evening at her home near Chaumont. She was 84 years of age. Death followed an illness of one week from
pneumonia. Mrs. Garlock was a lifelong resident of this county. She was a native of Chaumont and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Dingman. Her father served during the
war of 1812.

When a young woman she married Peter Garrison, of Chaumont. After he died several years later she became the wife of William Garlock, of the town of Orleans, where she lived for
several years, Mr, Garlock died about 25 years ago. Mrs. Garlock returned to the family home at Chaumont, where she had since resided. Although living a mile from the village she was able to walk to and from the village without being tired by the journey. She had enjoyed excellent health until the time of her fatal illness. Mrs. Garlock was one of the best known residents of that section and her keenness was considered notable for a woman of her years. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Episcopal church at Chaumont.

There survives one son, Fred Garrison, of Chaumont, and one daughter, Mrs. Florence Harrison, of Rochester. She also leaves 14 grandchildren, four of whom reside in the west.
