The funeral of John J. Winstead of 908 North Lee street, World war veteran and local grocer who died Tuesday in the United States Veterans hospital at Hines, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First United Brethren church. The Rev. G.W. Bonebrake, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery.

John J. Winstead
Merchant, Dies at
John J. Winstead, 52, grocer and World war veteran, died Tuesday morning at the United States Veterans hospital at Hines, Ill., where he had received treatment for a complication of ailments the last eight months. He resided at 908 North Lee street.
Mr. Winstead was born Feb. 28, 1880 in Rodgersville, Tenn., and had been a Blommington resident since he was 15 years of age. At the opening of World war he enlisted in the navy and served two years.
In 1922 he married Mrs. Leta Robbins of Bloomington. For the last eight years he operated a grocery store at 806 West Seminary avenue, Mrs. Winstead conducting the business while he was in the hospital.
Survivors, in addition to the widow, are his mother, Mrs. Margaret Winstead, age 80, who lives at Downs with James Winstead, a brother, and a sister, Mrs. Fannie Bane, 906 North Lee street.
Mr. Winstead was a member of the Louis E. Davis post of the American Legion, the Masonic fraternity and First United Brethren church.
The body is to be removed to the home here at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
