Uriel Mack Ham was born the 13th of August, 1902, a very, very hot night, at the farm home in Nesbit. He was the son of Jones Mack and Myrtle Mae Ham. He recieved some education in the Nesbit school but missed much time in helping work on the family farm. Later when the family moved he re-entered school at Simpson and recieved an eight grade certificate. At about 17 years of age he joined the Army and was sent to Camp Pike near Little Rock, Ark. (The name was later changed to Camp Robinson). While there he was struck down by spinal meningitis which nearly ended his life. The disease left him badly crippled.
On Dec. 27, 1922, in Piggott, Arkansas, he married Helen Curry. He tryed to farm but the work was too strenuous for his physical condition. In 1925, he sold everything and moved to Flint, Michigan. In the mid 1950's he was forced by his health to take a disability retirement from the shops.
In 1974, he married Oresta (Bonner) Paquette.
