Sylvia was born the 14th of September, 1904 on the family farm in Nesbit. She recieved her early education in the Nesbit school. After the family moved to the Simpson School area, she continued her schooling there receving her eight grade certificate. She successfully passed the test at Kennett, Mo., for an elementary teacher's certificate and taught two terms at the Simpson school. She had set aside from her $50.00 per month salary enought to see her through high school she thought. So in the fall of 1925, she entered high school at Holcomb, Mo., and graduated in the spring of 1928. However, she did not find employment in teaching as she had planed. Soon after, the Stock Marked Crash occured, followed by the depression of the 30's. As a result of these, plus the fact that teaching requirements continued to go higher, she gave up further hopes of teaching.

She married Seamon Adophulis Wetherington in Kennett, Mo. on Oct. 11, 1932. They farmed in Dunklin and Pemiscot Counties until about 1939 shen they moved to Brookport, Ill. where they continued to farm until his death in April, 1974 and her death in Oct., 1975.

Survivors include sons, Tommy (Patricia) Wetherington, Ray (Patricia) Wetherington, Clifford (Chattie) Wetherington and Dale Wetherington.

Predeceased by husband Seamon; daughter, Margaret Nell Wetherington; and her parents, Jones Mac and Myrtle May Ham.
