Malvin Brown Sr., 77, of El Dorado, died on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, at his home.
He was born on June 7, 1932, in Junction City, the son of Fate and Gertrude Hallen Brown. He was a retired employee of Lion Oil Construction Co. and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Junction City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sons, Bobby, Albert, Claybon and Malvin Brown Jr.; and a daughter, Tanoai George.
Survivors include a devoted companion, Mary Smith of El Dorado; two sons, Jerry Rester of Arkansas and Ronald Hunter of Alabama; two daughters, Doris Jean Tanner of Arkansas and Malva Brown White of Alabama; one sister, Rosie Thompson of California; 20 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at St. John Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Barry Dobson officiating.
Burial will be in El Bethel Cemetery in Three Creeks.
Public viewing will be from 1 to 5 p.m. today and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family will meet friends after the service in the fellowship hall of St. John Missionary Baptist Church.
