Rachel T. Crenshaw was the daughter of James H. Crenshaw and Elizabeth Smith. Rachel and James Desire Roberts were married the 16 Jan 1879 in Clarke County Alabama, in the home of Nathan Jackson Etheridge, Rachels stepfather. They were the parents of seven children.
Rachel and James were members of Forest Springs Baptist church in Clarke County, Alabama. December 1889 they moved their letter to Beaver Creek Baptist Church in Marengo County, Alabama.
James died July 9, 1890, after James death Rachel left Beaver Creek Church and returned to Forest Springs Church March 21, 1891 where she stayed until she was dismissed by letter February 15, 1896 and moved to Erath Co., Texas. She was on the 1900 Erath County Texas census

Rachel you are to be commended for the fine lady you were. James died so young, you raised six children by yourself, never remarried. There is no doubt you have many rewards in heaven.|
